Edward J. Szumowski, Au.D. — Audiologist, Owner

Dr. Ed Szumowski has been the owner of West Michigan Hearing Services since 1985. Prior to that time he worked as an audiologist for a hearing aid dispensing service in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor with a major in Pre-Medicine. Subsequently he attended Wayne State University in Detroit, where he received a Masters degree in Audiology. In 2003 he completed the Doctor of Audiology degree at the George S. Osborne College of Audiology at Salus University (formerly known as the PCO School of Audiology). He received the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A), and is Board Certified by the American Board of Audiology. He has received the American Academy of Audiology Scholar Award several times, in recognition of his continuing education endeavors.

In 1990 Dr. Szumowski was appointed by Governor James Blanchard to the Licensing Board for Hearing Aid Dispensing in Michigan, where he served for 3 years. He has also been elected a member of the Board of Directors of the Michigan Academy of Audiology, and has served two terms as the Academy’s President. In 2009 he was appointed to the Board of Trustees of the American Academy of Audiology Foundation, dedicated to furthering research efforts and service delivery for the hearing-impaired persons of the world.

Dr. Szumowski’s practice has always centered on the rehabilitative needs of adults with hearing loss, including the prescription and fitting of hearing instruments, and educating the public about hearing and hearing loss issues. He has a special interest in the hearing and communication difficulties of older adults, and in the problems faced by individuals with tinnitus. Dr. Szumowski takes pride in the fact that he has helped over 6000 individuals overcome the limitations of hearing impairment.
Ed has been married to Marcia since 1976, and is the father of 2 adult children. His hobbies include reading, fishing, hiking, and biking.

Ann Wildey — Practice Manager

Ann has been employed at West Michigan Hearing Services since 1997, and has held a number of different positions, including receptionist, hearing aid technician, and since 2001 has held the position of Practice Manager. She is responsible for the efficient flow of work in the practice, and is most likely to be that friendly voice you hear when you call our office. She also handles all billing functions, and makes sure that Dr. Ed is efficient and effective.
Ann has been married to Bill for over 30 years, has 2 adult children, and 4 grandkids. In her spare time she enjoys reading, sewing, and camping.

Stacy Vincent — Hearing Instrument Specialist and Audiology Technician

Stacy has been at West Michigan Hearing Services since 2001, and assists Dr. Ed in the fitting and follow-up care of our hearing aid patients. In addition, she is licensed as a Hearing Aid Dispenser by the State of Michigan, and is qualified to provide hearing tests, assist in the selection of hearing aid technology, take impressions of the ear, and perform related tasks. She and her husband Jason are having a wonderful time raising their 3 young children.

Vicki Beatty — Audiology Technician
Vicki began her employment at West Michigan Hearing Services in 2004, and assists Dr. Ed in the fitting and follow-up care of our patients using hearing technology. She also provides hearing aid maintenance and repair services in our office. Additional duties include front office work, and keeping in contact with our extensive patient database. Vicki brings a background of service as a medical assistant, having received her education in that field at the Ross Medical Institute. In addition, she brings to usher experience from many years of customer service employment. She and her husband Bill enjoy reading, biking, and spending time with their grandkids.
